How do I register?By self-registration:
you may register yourself to the Millennium Directory by
1) Going to our Millennium
Directory Index
2) Clicking on the Millennium region of your choice
3) Clicking on the POST link in order to enter your
information (you may include one photo per entry).
Note that the Millennium
Directory is moderated. This means that all entries will
be individually approved by an administrator in order to make
sure that the information is entered correctly and that no
offensive texts were included. You will be notified by e-mail
(your email must be valid) as soon as your entry is approved.
What does it cost
to register?Nothing. It is
all free. BUT: Because we are planning to publish
this information in a book or CD-ROM version to be filed
with the Library of Congress (as a proof of your existence for
posterity), it is your choice to determine if you want to be
included in this publication. If this is your desire, we do ask for a nun-refundable
registration fee that enables us to pay for the handling and classification of your
information into a formal directory entry after you have self-registered.
The fee is:
- US $5 per person or pet (without photograph)
- US $10 per person or pet (with photograph).
- All payments must be made by
credit card. We accept VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS.
If you
have a photograph, but you do not know how to scan and/or upload it to your
registration page, please mail
it in with your payment and we will include your photograph to your
millennium description. Make sure you provide the sort of contact information that will enable us to join
you if necessary (e-mail, home or work address, telephone and/or fax). You may also
include a paper hardcopy or computer disk of the description of yourself that you posted
or are planning to post to the Millennium Directory (see samples on the
Directory itself).
Who May Register?
Anybody.
From anywhere in the world. You may register yourself, any member in your family, or even your pets.
Photographs may be included with individual entries. Just enter your
information in the region that best represents your location
at the time of the millennium.
What happens if I die before
January 2000?
Make
sure someone knows about your Millennium Directory record. Should you die
prior to January 1, 2000, at 00:00:01, that person may update your record by
requesting that it be deleted from our servers. Deleting unnecessary records will help us
save computer memory. However, by default, we will consider all entries accurate unless
otherwise notified. Note that the fees paid for inclusion in the publication
are not refundable.
Should I confirm that I am still alive in January 2000?
Ideally, Yes. After registering, you might
want to come back to us soon after January 1, 2000 to confirm
with us that you are still alive. . Doing so will help maintain accurate data and save
computer space. However, by default, we will consider all entries accurate unless
otherwise notified. Note that the fees paid for inclusion in the publication
are not refundable.
Will the Millennium
Directory be published in print and/or CD-ROM version after January 30, 2000?
Most probably yes. The print (book)
version of the Millennium Directory should be easily publishable. The photographs provided
by the registrants will also be included in this version.
Note, however, that for the
Millennium Directory to be published in print and/or CD-ROM version, the overall number of
individual entries must be at least 500. In other words, if at least 500 people
register themselves in the Millennium Directory by January 1, 2000, and pay
the $5 or $10 inclusion fee, then a print or
CD-ROM version will be published and sent to the Library of Congress for preservation.
Millenniun Lottery
Should 500 people or more
register before January 1, 2000, and pay the $5/$10 inclusion
fee that will go towards the publication of the Millennium
Directory, we will automatically launch a lottery type of
event.
In other words, if 500 people
register and pay the inclusion fee, for every $5 or $10
dollars paid,
$1 will be deducted and
deposited in a special Millennium Directory Lottery account.
Thus, if 500 people register on the Millennium Directory,
the fund will be $500. Similarly, if 1,000, 10,000, or 1,000,000 people register on the
Millennium Directory, the special Millennium Directory fund will be in the amount of $1,000,
$10,000, or $1,000.000 respectively. The amounts to be won will thus depend on how many
people register on the Millennium Directory.
What are
the prizes?
There will be three prizes:
- First prize: 50% of any amount accumulated
in the Millennium Directory Lotery fund. In other words, if one million people register
themselves on the Millennium Directory, then the first prize will be in the amount of
$500,000 (which represents 50% of $1,000,000).
- Second prize: 30% of total amount
accumulated
- Third prize: 20% of total accumulated.
As you can see, all the amount accumulated will be shared
only among the three winners of the Millennium Directory. Be one of those and
register today!
When will the drawing take place?
The drawing will occur on January 1, 2000. The winners will
be informed by phone, mail or other means which they will make available to us upon
registration. If after three months (until March 30), a winner has not reclaimed the prize
and/or we have not been able to establish contact with him/her, we will conduct a second
drawing and the non-reclaimed amount will be transferred to a new winner, until all the
corresponding Millennium Directory fund is gone.
Who is
eligible?
All people who have registered on the Millennium
Directory and have paid the $5/$10 inclusion fee.
This includes any pets registered by their owner. If a pet is the winner of one the
prizes of the Millennium Sweepstakes, that pet's owner will be able to reclaim the prize for
the pet. Similarly, kids under age will be able to be represented by their parents or
guardians. We will conduct strict identity checks on all prize claims, so be sure to be
the right winner. All false claims will be punishable by law.
We advise all registrants on the directory to provide a
photo with each registration. A photo will enable us to determine more accurately the
winners' identities when they reclaim their prizes. All procedures will be conducted under
the supervision of an accredited notary. |
