Results of the DV-2000 visa lottery (last year)

The National Visa Center at Portsmouth, New Hampshire normally notifies and registers the winners of the DV Lottery. By now, the VISA CENTER should have registered and notified the lucky winners of the DV-2000 diversity lottery. If all the 50,000 visas to be allocated are not claimed by their winners, the Center will continue to allocate visas to all the more than one million applicants who apllied until all 50,000 visas available are allocated. This will run from (October 1, 1999 until September 30, 2000).

When you go for a visa interview after winning the lottery visa, you will be asked to provide proof of a high school education or its equivalent, or proved that you have, for two years, worked in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience within the past five years.

If you were a winner and you live abroad, you must act really fast. All the instructions for claiming your visa are already included in the notification letter or package you received from the National Visa Center.

If you are already living in the US and are a winner, you must apply quickly for an adjustment of your status. You may contact the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) for information on the procedures to follow and the requirements.

Please note that after the National Visa Center has distributed all the available 50,000 visa numbers, the program for fiscal year 2000 will end. If you were selected but did not receive or apply for a visa by September 30, 2000, you and the family members that you wanted to take with you will be disqualified from your DV-2000 registration and status. This is why it is important for you to act on your application as soon as you are informed of your selection as one of the winners of the Diversity Visa.

If you applied for DV-2000., but did not receive notification of any kind, this means you were not selected as a winner of the Diversity Visa lottery. Try again and keep trying until you become a winner. The next lottery (DV-2001) is scheduled to begin on October 4, 1999. To be considered, all applications must be received between noon on October 4, 1999 and November, 1999.
